Chase Your Dreams at a New Film Studio Coming to Bastrop, Texas

Have you ever wanted to be an actor or actress, but couldn't afford to pull up stakes and move to California or New York to make it happen? Well, soon you may have to go no further than Bastrop, Texas.

Film Studio Coming to Bastrop in 2023

Forget the big city. KVUE-TV, KXAN-TV, and Austin Business Journal report that a 546-acre film studio is in development out in Bastrop. The Bastrop 552 project's finished product is expected to include 486,000 square feet of studio space, 300,000 square feet of spaces for warehouses or mills, and in 200,000 square feet of offices.

Austonia reports the project is expected to be complete in August of 2023.

Why Bastrop?

The man behind the project, Alton Butler, reportedly likes the proximity to Austin and the scenic views Bastrop offers.. This is the same person who owns California-based 204 Studios, whose clients for stage equipment rentals include Netflix, Hulu, and America’s favorite, the NFL.

Lights, Camera, Action!

Can you imagine being a little girl or boy watching a big screen spectacle and knowing it could have been filmed just a couple of hours away from you?

I'm truly excited about this project because acting is in my blood, so Id love to visit this studio once it's up and running just to see what's going on. Truth be told, I always wanted to get into film, but having a son and getting married definitely sidetracked me.

Who knows? Maybe I'll be "spotted" when I visit and fulfil my destiny!

It's Not All Glitz and Glamour

Of course, some Bastrop area residents have concerns about the new project, like the noise, traffic, and light pollution it might bring to their community.

Sure it could create thousands of jobs and bring some serious money to Bastrop, but no project happens in a vacuum and residents are making their concerns known.
