CTC keeps promise; offers grant for military students

With the government budget cuts to the Department of Defense tuition assistance programs, Central Texas College is offering grants to military students that will be affected by the suspension.

The grant will only be available to current CTC military students who have used tuition assistance this academic year, and to any new military students that applied for CTC admission before the date the tuition assistance was suspended.

“We have a long tradition of offering great educational value to our military students,” said Dr. Thomas Klincar, CTC chancellor. “We don’t want these students to lose their momentum. We hope this grant will enable them to stay focused on degree completion.”

Congressman John Carter (R), Texas, commended CTC’s action. “I think it’s wonderful our college in Texas is caring for service members right away while we are working budget issues in Washington. Our military folks don’t have the option to stop serving, so we shouldn’t stop supporting them. Central Texas College understands this. I’m proud of this school in my district.”
