Did You Know This Killeen School Bus Driver Was Arrested On Child Porn Charges?

Yikes!

So who is to blame for KISD failing to inform district parents about one of their school bus drivers who came into contact with small kids every day being arrested last fall on child pornography charges?

Better yet, who's getting fired?

Rosemond Crown with our partners at News 10 reports that now ex-KISD bus driver Robert Speed's house was raided on September 29, 2020 by the Texas Attorney General’s Texas Child Exploitation Unit. He was reportedly still employed at the time, though the district told Crown his employment was terminated the same day as the raid.

Authorities went to Crown's home after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's CyberTipline that child porn had been uploaded to a Google account. Investigators say they found a hard drive containing three explicit videos of children, and that speed admitted to owning the hard drive.

Here's the crazy thing: KISD parents weren't notified about Speed's arrest. Several of them tell News 10 they only recently found out via social media. Some said Speed would play a game with some of his child passengers he called "hugs for candy", in which he'd hand out lollipops in exchange for hugs.

Though the child pornography incident occurred last fall and Speed is currently being held in a Milam County Jail with bail set at $150,000, I find myself asking this question: are there any other bus drivers or employees who have been busted for crimes like this that parents weren't told about?

A KISD spokesperson told News 10 parents weren't informed because “none of the alleged crimes happened on KISD property or involved KISD students.”

Be that as it may, perhaps parents should have been notified anyway so they could ask their children if Speed had ever acted inappropriately with or around them.

In my opinion, parents should make a big deal of this and hold the proper officials accountable!
