Dog racing is a big deal in Texas.

I say that because once it resumes in November at Valley Race Park, dog owners stand to make over 2 million dollars from 360 races, through February.

David Peck, President of the Texas Greyhound Association, said "now they can focus on modernizing the industry and lobbying for changes to state law', he also said 'you can't compete with casinos with your hands behind your back"

Gulf Greyhound Park, the last park in Texas to hold races closed last year due to a number of issues ranging from growing competition from nearby casinos, to not having permission to have expanded gambling at the track.

Racing resumes at Gulf Greyhound Park in November 2017.
