Tragic: Dallas Boy, 9, Becomes 10th Victim to Die After Astroworld Festival
Out of all the stories I keep hearing about all of the victims who lost their lives (whose families have my sincere condolences) due to injuries at the Astroworld Festival, the story about the 9-year-old is, in my opinion, the one that hurts the most.
This nine-year-old's favorite rapper was Travis Scott, and to hear he innocently went to to the concert to see his favorite rapper perform, only to have this tragedy occur...it breaks my heart.
November 5th, 9-year-old Ezra Blount attended the Astroworld festival with his dad. Treston.
WFAA reports that Tristan was carrying Ezra on his shoulders when the crowd began to surge. He began to be crushed by the crowd, found that he couldn’t breathe, and passed out.
After he woke up, he found that his son was gone.
He located his son at Texas Children’s Hospital and learned that his son was unconscious and fighting for his life after being trampled by the crowd.
His father set up a GOFUND ME page over a week ago, stating his son was in an induced coma, and he was certain he was trampled due to Ezra suffering swelling, brain damage, and trauma to all organs. The family needed help with medical expenses due to the extend of little Ezra's injuries.
Sadly, Ezra is no longer with us. KTRK-TV in Houston reports that the child passed away Sunday. With his passing, the death toll from the concert is now 10. Last week, 22-year-old Texas A&M student Bharti Shahani also passed away due to injuries sustained during the concert.
It's difficult for those of us who weren't there to get an idea of just how crowded the venue was when the crowd surged toward the stage, and more stories are emerging daily about people who tried to help and warn camera operators and other staff that something was wrong.
The public outcry in the wake of this tragedy has prompted Texas Governor Greg Abbott to form a taskforce who will be charged with coming up with new rules and regulations for live events in the Lone Star State going forward.
This story makes you cherish life even more and makes you want to hug your children. Never take a single person in your life for granted.
Again, prayers and condolences to all the families affected by this.
