Our thoughts and prayers go out to the homeless community of Killeen.

The temporary closure of the Friends in Crisis shelter has forced some back out on the streets without a place to go for a shower or a hot meal.

The doors closed this past Saturday due to financial problems. Friends in Crisis is kept in operation thanks to private donations and a small number of funds that come in from the Killeen Community Development Block Grant according to Brandon Hamilton with KWTX who shared a great story about some of the residents who lived at the shelter.

In order to help the shelter reopen a Go Fund Me page has been set up with a goal of $200,000 dollars to get the facility up and running again along with a Facebook donation site. The Friends in Crisis shelter has a donation option on their website at http://familiesincrisis.net. Board members of the shelter have set up a Facebook donation site as well. If you would like to send a donation by mail, checks can be sent to
Families in Crises, P.O. Box 25, Killeen, TX., 76540.
