Heads Up, There's a Recall on a Panera Ready-to-Eat Soup

In an effort to keep you well informed, and possibly prevent you from getting sick, I feel it is my duty to let you know of a soup recall of the vey popular Panera-brand chicken tortilla soup.

KXXV Channel 25 broke down a press release from the the U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), which issued a recall on the "Panera BREAD at HOME Chicken Tortilla Soup". They say thousands of the pre-packaged soups may be contaminated with "extraneous material, specifically pieces of gray nitrile glove."

Panera BREAD at HOME Chicken Tortilla Soup is made by Blount Fine Foods, a McKinney, Texas establishment and they are recalling about 6,384 pounds of chicken tortilla soup that were produced on July 1st.

According to FSIS announcement, the recall is specific to lot code 070121-1V and “Use By 09/09/2021” on the label. You can also identify the specific containers that have establishment number “P-13130” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The recalled containers were shipped to retail locations in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, and Texas.

There have been no reports of injuries or illness, but if you have one of these containers you should either throw it away or return it to your place of purchase.
