Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez posted his condolences on Social Media after reporting the death of Deputy Constable Omar Ursin:

According to KHOU 11, on Sunday August 28, 2022, Ursin was attacked on Madera Run Parkway, in the 11900 block. The shooter, who at the time of writing is unknown, shot seven rounds into a Ford Focus, which hit Constable Ursin. Sheriff Gonzalez also described the vehicle in question:

Ursin was taken to the hospital following the shooting, where he unfortunately was pronounced dead.

Preliminary investigators are unsure as to why Ursin was attacked.

Sergeant Dennis Wolford in comment to the media also expressed disbelief at the attack:

"The reason for the shooting is unknown. We don’t know if it’s road rage. We don’t know if it has to do with him being law enforcement, We are still trying to determine that, but we are asking for the public’s help.”

Those with any info regarding the incident are encouraged to call the Harris County Sheriff's Office at 713-274-9100, or Crime Stoppers, 713-222-TIPS (8477). Residents around the area of the shooting are also encouraged to review any videos from cameras they may have that will reveal any new evidence for investigators.

We here at Townsquare Media Killeen/Temple send our condolences and prayers to the family of Deputy Omar Ursin and the Harris County Sheriff's Department.
