According to do512.com, In 2018 and 2019, the federal and Texas governments passed laws allowing for hemp to be legally bought, sold, and consumed in our Lone Star State. As of now, the law defines hemp as cannabis that contains 0.3% or less of Delta-9 THC.

Currently, in Austin and Travis County, you can purchase Delta-9 THC cannabis products, such as edibles, as long as the total Delta-9 THC in said products only amounts to 0.3% of the total weight. But is that enough THC to get a person high? Yes, supposedly, it is.

The local laws vary from county to county in Texas. While marijuana is illegal in Texas, the City of Austin has decriminalized small amounts of weed. People who follow state politics are trying to read—pardon the pun—the leaves. They aren't sure if he is pushing for a complete ban or just stronger regulation, which usually means they want more taxes on the sale of a product.

It's interesting to see if he gets his wish. The legislature considered the same type of regulation in 2018 but failed to pass the stiffer regulations.
