They’re Biting Big in Belton! See This Colossal Catfish
Hopefully, you got your bait out before the rainstorms rolled in. If you made sure to have bait in the water, you, my friend, are a true fisherman. I can't speak for everyone, but I love a good, quiet day with just a fishing pole, a dog, and maybe a couple of cold ones by the bank.

Belton proud! Check out this incredible catch from our lake
If you're a true Texan, chances are you fish where everyone else does—Belton Lake. Stillhouse Hollow Lake, nearby, has reported over 700 catches of smallmouth bass and around 575 catches of white bass. There have also been approximately 320 catches of channel catfish and about 580 blue catfish caught there as well. Even though this well-known lake has long been famous for its bass fishing opportunities, catfish have recently caught the eye of Central Texans.
Dream catch alert! This Belton Lake catfish is what it's all about
Just last night, a gentleman by the name of Josh Griffin spent some time out at Belton Lake, where he reeled in a flathead catfish that had to be over 60 pounds.
Judging by the smile in his photo, Josh was impressed with his catch. Even though he decided to catch and release, the trophy photo will live on forever. I can’t lie—I don’t know if I would’ve been so kind to that massive fish. Either way, both bass and catfish are favorites here in Central Texas. That ginormous catfish gets to swim another day, narrowly avoiding becoming a delicious plate of fish and chips with tartar sauce and hot sauce on the side. And now, Josh Griffin is officially a Central Texas fishing legend!
