Killeen City Offices Closing July 3; What You Need To Know

The City of Killeen is preparing to celebrate the Independence Day holiday as communities across the nation commemorate the country's 250th anniversary. In observance of the holiday, the city has announced several changes to its operating schedule and public services, and residents are encouraged to plan accordingly.

Alert: Killeen Announces July 3 Holiday Closures

City officials have announced that municipal offices will be closed on Friday, July 3, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. In addition, residents should note that trash collection schedules will be adjusted. Routes normally scheduled for Thursday, July 2, and Friday, July 3, will be collected one day earlier than usual. Residents are encouraged to place their carts at the curb the night before their adjusted collection day to ensure timely pickup. All other sanitation collection schedules will remain unchanged.

What About Other City Buildings?

The city's Recycling Center will also be closed on Friday as part of the holiday schedule. For those planning recreational activities, the Family Recreation Center at the First National Bank Texas Recreation Center will be open from 5:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Friday but will be closed on Saturday in observance of Independence Day. The Lions Club Senior Center and all city libraries will be closed on both Friday and Saturday. However, the Family Aquatics Center at Long Branch Park will remain open during its normal operating hours, providing residents with an opportunity to cool off and enjoy the holiday weekend.

For Emergency Situations

Emergency services, including police, fire, and emergency medical personnel, will continue operating throughout the holiday to ensure public safety. City offices are scheduled to reopen for normal business hours on Monday, July 6.
