City of Killeen Announces March Start Date for Key Park Enhancement Projects
For years, residents have been asking for improvements to Long Branch Park and other areas in Killeen, and according to the city, those requests have been heard.

When Will The Improvements Take Place?
The cityof Killeen released a statement announcing that two separate projects are scheduled to begin in early March, weather permitting, at Long Branch Park, located at 1101 Branch Drive. Improvements are expected to take place from March 2 through March 7, during which time that specific area will be closed for surface upgrades.
The work will occur near the Junior Service League’s spray pad, and that section is expected to be the only area affected by the renovations. The rest of the park will remain open to the public.
More Improvements in Different Areas
The Killeen Athletic Complex will also close for re-striping. That closure is planned for March 5 but could occur anytime between March 4 and March 10, depending on weather conditions.
What Do Residents Need To Know?
Residents are advised that parking will still be available near Mickey’s Dog Park in the Rotary Club neighborhood. The Children’s Park area will remain open, and all affected areas will reopen once the projects are complete. City officials note that project dates may shift based on weather conditions and thank residents for their patience as improvements are made to local parks and green spaces.
