2026 Health Report; This Texas Border City Has the Highest Obesity Rate in the State
Summer is right around the corner, which means it’s beginning to warm up, and we’re ready to wear our bathing suits, hit the lake, BBQ, and show off those summer bodies here in Texas. But according to the YouTube page of Ruhi Cenent Documentaries, that might not be the case for one town in the Lone Star State, as it has been ranked the second-largest town in the country. Now, when I say “largest,” I’m not talking about population, I’m talking about obesity.

What Town Was Crowned The Largest In The State?
McAllen, located in South Texas and also known as “The Valley,” has been ranked as the most obese city in Texas. According to Ruhi Cennt, an independent documentary maker who travels around the world discovering new things about our country, nearly one in two people in the city is obese, and almost half of the remaining population is overweight. He goes on to say that because of this, three out of every four people are at risk of serious health problems.
This May Surprise You About McAllen, Texas
In the video he posted, he shows himself passing one fast-food establishment after another, sometimes only two to three minutes apart. The independent documentary maker definitely gives viewers a different perspective of McAllen, where there are reportedly more than 500 fast-food establishments for a population of only 150,000 people.
Everything Does NOT Need To Be Bigger In Texas
I understand that Texas is all about being bigger in everything we do, but in some ways, I feel this is not only a cry for help, but also something that may need to be addressed. At the end of the day, health is wealth, and we want everyone to avoid the risks that come with serious health issues.
