What Are The Symptoms That The Residents Have Been Having?

Residents living in the apartments spoke with 6 Fix Investigates, hoping to expose the conditions they say they have been living in and raise awareness for other renters who could potentially face the same dangerous situation in the future. Some residents say they have had to make multiple trips to the doctor because of the mold and have experienced serious symptoms since last year, including cold sweats, shortness of breath, facial swelling, and severe headaches.

What Should Residents Do Now?

Residents who have seen their physicians say they were advised to leave the property. However, many say that doing so is a major inconvenience. No one wants to suddenly pack up and leave their home, especially when they feel the situation is not their fault.

After residents say they were able to visibly identify black mold in the units, many believe the apartment complex should respond to the issue. There are certain Texas laws that renters must follow to keep their homes safe, but mold is not specifically listed as one of those requirements. So what does that mean for the residents? Will they receive the justice they feel they deserve? We will keep the city updated.
