Austin, Texas and the immediate metro area was pounded by incredible storms yesterday, and even now there are thousands who remain without power after buildings collapsed, and frightening severe weather tore apart several neighborhoods. It was not just Austin that took a major hit as reports of large hail came down in Cedar Park, and other quickly growing Central Texas towns.

Massive Power Outages Hit Austin & Central Texas After Big Storms
According to this KVUE article, several thousands of homes and people remain without power as teams have been gathering from around the state to restore electricity to the most essential buildings first like hospitals and other public places where aid is being supplied to those in need. Several water rescues were also necessary with reports that one person died.

According to energy experts, the total number of people that became disconnected to a power source was the third highest since 2012, and was only surpassed by severe Winter Storms Mara and Uri. I have a niece named Mara, and I assure you she did not mean it.
