Texas Tales In Spongebob Squarepants: Characters, Episodes, And Musicians
Over the last 25 years, Spongebob Squarepants has been one of the most iconic cartoons on tv & Texas has been there ever since the beginning. From characters being FROM the state, from shout outs to out very own cities, Texas has always played a major part in the show's history.
Never forget the iconic Spongeob Squarepants episode centered all around Texas
From the very first season, there was an episode titled "Texas", where it focused on Sandy Cheek being extremely homesick and wanted to return home to the state. Spongebob & Patrick, in attempts to keep Sandy here, proceeded to make fun of the state giving us one of the show's most memorable scenes (and memes). And no we're not talking about the Texas song either...
Some of Texas' biggest musicians have been featured in Spongebob Squarepants
The most famous example is in the episode "Prehibernation Week". The whole episode would featured an edited version of "Death Rattle" performed by the Dallas rockers. For the show, however, it would be titled "Pre-Hibernation"
Pantera weren't the only Texas musicians on the show; turns out that ZZ Top's Frank Beard was mentioned in the 2015 movie, Spongebob Squarepants: Sponge Out Of Water.
In The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water (2015), the last pirate who checked out the magic book is “Frank Beard”, the drummer of ZZ Top. Humorously, he’s usually the only member of the band who doesn’t have a beard.

Two Texas cities were mentioned in another Spongebob Squarepants movie
In the 2024 film, "Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie", they actually name dropped TWO cities from Texas. The movie reveals that Sandy works for the Bureau Of Official Texas Science Laboratory (or B.O.O.T.S) in Galveston. While trying to get back to Galveston, the Cheeks family says that they're gonna make a stop at the "Varmint Parade in Tyler, Texas". Looks like the age old question of "where in Texas is Sandy Cheeks from?" has finally been answered...
