Jay Leno’s Last Days

I really don't understand how NBC is forcing Jay Leno to an early retirement and are paying him an additional 15 million dollars (yes an additional 15 million). I think it really doesn't make any money sense. Jimmy Fallon is good and I like to watch him and his show. I would watch Jay and then Jimmy almost every night. It seems like a self-inflicted wound, meaning they are shooting themselves in the foot.

I also think that because Jay is over 60 years old and Jimmy is the new young talent, NBC thinks that they will continue be number one after the old man leaves. The problem I see is that people that watched Jay have been conditioned to watch Late Night TV Shows. The younger are conditioned to the Internet and the latest technology products. In comparison CBS isn't changing anything. David Letterman isn't going anywhere and he isn't even number 1. Again we have been conditioned to watch from our parents watching Johnny Carson while we were kids. Maybe they know something I don't, but I just don't get it. Jay was and has been the number 1 in ratings and money. Seem's like NBC has some vendetta to get rid of the number 1 late night show. It makes no sense. What's wrong with this picture?
