Blonde Hair and White Skin Doesn’t Save Texas Woman From Jail Time
A Texas real estate agent has learned the hard way that privilege doesn't apply to everyone.
According to a report from CBS News, Jennifer Leigh Ryan, a Frisco real estate agent who participated in storming the capitol on January 6, was recently sentenced to 60 days in prison.
Social Media Tells All
The FBI was able to determine that Ryan posted several photos and videos of her participation, and did not seem to regret her choices.
"We just stormed the Capital. It was one of the best days of my life," Ryan tweeted after the event.
Ryan received backlash online after bragging about her actions at the capitol, to which she responded on Twitter, stating:
"Definitely not going to jail. Sorry I have blonde hair white skin a great job a great future and I'm not going to jail. Sorry to rain on your hater parade. I did nothing wrong."
Learning the Hard Way
Unfortunately for Ryan, she actually did plenty of things that were against the law on that fateful day.
Ryan took a plea deal for her actions and was only given a slap on the wrist, but it's still more than what we know she expected.
Ryan pleaded guilty in July to "parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building," and was issued a $1,000 fine along with owing $500 in restitution to the architect of the Capitol.
No Pardons To Be Found
After facing the music, Jenna Ryan pleaded to former President Trump to pardon her actions in an interview with NBC.
"President Trump, I want you to know that I have been a true supporter of yours and I believe that you won the election. I believe in America, and I believe in your values. And I was not a violent protester, and I would ask that you would pardon me from this misdemeanor."
No pardons were issued for those who stormed the Capitol.
Facing Reality
Jenna tweeted the following statement after her indictment:
