Killeen Man Charged in High Speed Chase, Crash
A Killeen man was arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase in a stolen SUV earlier this month.
Police say that on August 4, Billie Dovonte Scott did 75 mph on a 30 mph street while fleeing from police, then hit a man on an ATV and crashed into a van. Ouch!
He and two passengers ran from the scene. Scott and one of the passengers were caught. The other passenger remains at large.
KWTX reports that he is currently being held on $70,000 bond for multiple charges including possession of a controlled substance, and evading arrest with a vehicle.
UPDATE: Bell County Jail records indicate Scott's bonds now total $200,000. He's charged with possession of a controlled substance, unauthorized use of a vehicle, evading arrest with a vehicle, and causing an accident involving serious bodily harm.
There's another concerning aspect to this story: The van he hit was parked outside a daycare. What if there'd been kids in there? We'd be talking about more serious charges in that case.
