Mac Miller’s Charity Foundation Raises Over $700,000 for Underserved Youth

Mac Miller may be gone, but he certainly hasn’t been forgotten. The late rapper’s legacy will continue to live on thanks in large part to his charity foundation.

On Wednesday (Jan. 2), TMZ reported that The Mac Miller Circles Fund has raised over $700,000 from donations. About half of the monies came from the Mac Miller: A Celebration of Life concert, which was held at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles in October. Several artists like Travis Scott, Ty Dolla $ign, J.I.D, Vince Staples, Chance The Rapper and John Mayer performed at the event.

Another $350,000 in donations came directly from the fans via the fund's official website.

All proceeds will go to Mac’s charity, which provides funds to various arts and education programs for the underprivileged youth in the rapper's hometown of Pittsburgh, Pa. "[We want to help] them recognize their full potential through exploration in the arts and community building," said charity organizers.

Mac Miller died from an accidental drug overdosed on Sept 7 inside his Los Angeles-area home. The rapper's body was reportedly in a praying position on his bed when it was discovered by his assistant. He was 26 years old.

Last month, Mac posthumously earned a 2019 Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album for Swimming. In addition, Mac's manager, Christian Clancy, penned a heartfelt tribute to the fallen MC for The Guardian.
