A shooting in McGregor, Texas last week left five dead, with the gunman currently in the hospital suffering from injuries after getting into a shootout with law enforcement.

Both the victims names and plans for their memorials for those wishing to say goodbye have now been released.

Summary Of Events

According to a report from our news partners at KWTX-TV, the shootings occurred in the 900 block of Monroe St. The timeline isn't entirely clear, but investigators told KWTX the shootings likely occurred early in the morning of Friday, September 19.

Police say Nicolas Hernandez-Jaimes, the accused shooter, killed his girlfriend and her two children. Two more individuals were also killed before law enforcement engaged in a firefight with Hernandez-Jaimes, during which he was injured and taken to the hospital.

KWTX reports Hernandez-Jaimes is paralyzed due to the shootout with police.

The Gunman Reportedly Had Others In His Sights

A witness who was also shot and survived told KXXV-TV Hernandez-Jaimes was alleged to have been looking for additional victims. Another witness told KWTX he was driving in the area when the gunman aimed at him and fired, striking his fingers. The gunman reportedly fired shots at an elderly man on the balcony of another home, but missed.

Remembering the Victims

The victims were 38-year-old Monica Delgado, 15-year-old Miguel Avila, 14-year-old Natalie Avila, 47-year-old Lori Aviles, and 20-year-old Natalie Aviles. At the time of writing, Police haven't released anything further regarding a motive for Hernandez-Jaimes, according to KXXV.

In a released statement, law enforcement officer said that Hernandez-Jaimes has been charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. At the time of writing, more charges could be pending.

Services for Lori Aviles have also been announced, with a GoFundMe also set up to raise funds as well.
