KWTX's Drake Lawson reported that Mexia authorities executed multiple warrants for illegal gambling gamerooms on Friday night in Mexia.

Mexia authorities announced in a press release that the warrants were served on these establishments around 9:00 p.m. on Friday night.

The release also stated the the Mexia Police Department worked with Groesbeck Police Department as a Joint Criminal Apprehension Team, with the assistance of Limestone County DA's Office.

Authorities said one of the locations at East Milam Street in Mexia had 37 gambling machines that were found at the scene. The second location that was busted, had 17 gambling machines in the confines of the establishment.

Authorities made arrest at both locations, and charges ranging from misdemeanors to felonies. Brian Bell, Mexia Police Chief said, "Relentless dedication of the Department’s officers and investigators, along with the support in manpower provided by colleagues from the Groesbeck Police Department, as a reason for the successful operation."
