NBC opted to skip a moment of silence for when the first plane hit the World Trade Center on Sept. 11 to instead air an interview with a star of the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” TV show.

A moment of silence was held at 8:46 AM ET and observed by President Barack Obama and the First Lady, NYPD, FDNY and families of victims from Sept. 11. As they do each year, all cable networks carried the moment live. The exception this year was NBC’s ‘Today,” which aired an interview with “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star Kris Jenner.

Jenner discussed the new season of the reality show and her breast implants.

The moment of silence was aired by New York City’s local NBC affiliate, which broke into “Today” to carry locally-produced coverage.
