As the second most populous state and the second largest in total land area, Texas obviously has a large demand for higher education and a whole lot of great communities where those colleges and universities call home. Annually, there are several studies that compile the quality of education that is supplied to the student body and those attributes are weighted against standards like cost, campus activities, and safety.

Then, find a quality state school to finish out your undergraduate degree to combat costs and avoid high priced student loans.

After crunching all of the numbers, Texas A&M University in College Station has been declared the top university in Texas by a pretty wide margin as it retains those bragging rights for the second year in a row according to the Wallstreet Journal. Overall, A&M is #28 of 500 colleges in America, and 11th best among public universities.

When you think of the University of Texas at Austin, what comes to your mind first? Is it celebrities? Of course, some celebrities are more vocal than others about their alma mater. Matthew McConaughey lets everyone know where he came from, so no surprises there.
