Bell County, Texas Watching For Any Voter Harassment

It's voting time all over the nation, and many have seen the political ads. We've all made our decisions and it's time to head to the polls to make our choices. It's also important to be polite at polls, which sometimes could be difficult due to multiple reasons.

However, it's also very important to be aware of people that might be trying to stop you from voting. This is known as Voter Intimidation, and is outright illegal.

Voter Intimidation Defined

According to the ACLU, the law for Voter Intimidation is described as the following:

"no person … shall intimidate, threaten, coerce … any other person for the purpose of interfering with the right of [that] person to vote or to vote as he may choose."

The ACLU also provides cases where it possibly could be voter intimidation such as someone pretending to be an election official or lying about voter requirements.

Thankfully, according to KCEN, so far there haven't been any cases of voter intimidation reported in Central Texas. Voters in Bell County should also not be worried, as election officials have kept a close eye out for any voter harassment.

Bell, McLennan County Election Officials Watching For Any Potential Issues

In a comment to KCEN, James Stafford, Bell County Public Information Officer, stated that personnel at polling sites know what to do in potential "emergency situations." McLennan County officials haven't received any reports of voter intimidation, but if any happen to be reported, they hope it won't stop any voters from casting their choice.

Remember to report anything seems suspicious to workers at the polling sites if you feel someone is trying to stop you from voting.

A while back, I asked the good people of Temple if they could picture a good restaurant to fill the lot on North General Bruce Drive where the soon to be torn down Long John Silver's stood.

This was before it was announced that a Dutch Bros. Coffee location would open there (which was one of the places I predicted as a contender in our article).

So now Dutch Bros. is open in that spot, but the responses to my survey were interesting because they paint a picture of just how diverse Temple's population is. People recommended some familiar restaurants with locations in the surrounding area, but also a few I'd never even heard of.
