The 2021 Academy Awards nominees were announced on Monday morning (Mar. 15), with Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas revealing which films, actors, directors and more are in the running for a 2021 Oscar.

The Academy made history this year with the most female directors nominated in the Best Director category. Chloé Zhao (Nomadland) and Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman) were both nominated in the category. Zhao is the first Asian woman to be nominated for Best Director.

David Fincher’s Mank leads the nominations with ten total, including nominations for Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Director. The Father, Judas and the Black Messiah, Minari, Nomadland, Trial of the Chicago 7 and Sound of Metal follow, scoring six nominations each.

For his work in Minari, The Walking Dead star Steven Yeun is the first Asian American performer to ever be recognized in the Lead Actor category. Meanwhile, Chadwick Boseman, who died of colon cancer in August 2020, received a posthumous nom for his role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

The 2020 Academy Awards will air on ABC at 8 PM ET on Sunday, April 25. The ceremony will broadcast live from both the Dolby Theatre and Union Station in Hollywood.
