The City of Temple has closed South Kegley Road near the 1100 block to through traffic due to a sinkhole near a bridge.

“Road conditions at this location, just south of where Wildflower Lane meets Kegley, have deteriorated significantly,” Director of City Communications Shannon Gowan said Tuesday afternoon. “City crews are currently assessing current roadway conditions to determine what repairs are needed to make the road safe and passable for travelers.”

According to the Temple Daily Telegram, the small sinkhole near the bridge may be the result of recent rains. The Telegram reports that city crews plan to begin emergency road work Wednesday morning.
