Ron Palillo aka Horshack from ‘Welcome Back Kotter’ Dies at 63

One of my favorite old school TV sitcoms growing up was 'Welcome Back Kotter' and today is a sad day for 'Sweathogs' fans.

Ron Palillo, who played Arnold Horshack on the show 'Welcome Back Kotter', has died.  He was 63. He passed away at his home in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida from a heart attack on Tuesday. He was 63.

Palillo was found by his partner around 4am Tuesday. He was reportedly in good health, but couldn’t kick the habit of cigarettes.

In 2006, AOL featured Palillo in a ‘where are they now’ segment.

Palillo marks the 2nd passing this year of one of the ‘Sweathogs’.  Bobby Hegyes, who played Juan Epstein, passed away earlier in 2012.
