An electronic malfunction on a roller coaster at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, Texas sent four people to the hospital on Sunday, April 10.

MR. FREEZE: Reverse Blast

MR FREEZE: Reverse Blast starts you off inside a building before launching you outside at 70 MPH. The 90-second roller coaster takes up a 236-foot tower backwards  in 3.8 seconds. Once you reach the end of the 1372 foot track, you free fall back to earth and finish back inside the building you started in.



Six Flags Emergency

According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, The incident occurred around 6:30pm on Sunday afternoon on the MR. FREEZE: Reverse Blast roller coaster. Six Flag officials said smoke was reported in the building where the ride starts. All guest and employees exited the ride building right away.

Four of the guests were taken to the hospital, treated and released. Six Flag officials said it was “out of an abundance of caution.” One employee was also treated for a minor injury. Park officials are saying that an electrical malfunction in a motor is what caused the smoke inside the ride building.

Six Flags Closed

Six Flags is currently closed on weekdays, but plans to reopen on Friday, April 15. No word on if MR. FREEZE will also reopen.

New Attractions

Thrill seekers will be happy to know that two new roller coasters will open this year at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington. Aquaman: Power Wave and Pirates of Speelunker Cave are both expected to open in early 2022.
