Sugar Hill Records Honored by Ewing Athletics With New Collaboration
Ewing Athletics is paying homage to legendary hip-hop label, Sugar Hill Records with their latest sneaker release.
Sugar Hill Records is the first ever hip-hop record label that was launched to success via Sugar Hill Gang's hit single “Rapper’s Delight," which became the first ever hip-hop song to hit the Top 40 charts back in 1979. Produced by Sylvia Robinson, the track is credited with introducing hip-hop to a mainstream audience and stands as one of the most significant records in rap history.
The new collaboration, Ewing Athletics 33 Hi, aims to show love to one of rap's most important labels, incorporating the classic logos and colors Sugar Hill used for their 12-inch vinyl records.
"Inspired by the label’s iconic rainbow logo and light blue backdrop of its 12-inch vinyl covers, this colorway will take you back to hip hops beginnings," Ewing Athletics stated on Instagram. "Sugar Hill was formed in the same town, Englewood NJ, where Ewing Athletics is located today."
Powder blue suede covers the upper, and the thick ankle strap features a bright rainbow gradient. The Sugar Hill logo appears on the upper’s lateral side, and “SUGAR HILL” appears in large white block letters on the heels.
The shoes retail for $140 at Ewing Athletics.
