T.I. continues his criminal justice reform efforts by joining a newly-appointed task force in Atlanta whose duty will be to come up with a new use for the city's jail.

The 25-member team was announced on Tuesday (July 2), and will also include city activists, council members and criminal justice reform volunteers, reports WSBTV Atlanta. The group will gather and brainstorm on alternative ways to use the Atlanta City Detention Center, which is used to house people cited for violating minor traffic laws and city ordinances. Their recommendations will then be given to Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms for approval.

The jail has seen a persistent decline in population since the existing building was built in 1995. “It is a top priority of the Mayor Bottoms to put this underutilized facility to more productive use as a multi-faceted use center for wellness and healing, skills-building, economic mobility, and crime prevention for people, families and communities impacted by the history of over-incarceration,” a press release about the task force reads.

Tip continues to make positive efforts in his community. For Easter, he joined forces with the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church to bail out non-violent offenders. In March, the rapper was recognized by the Georgia State Senate for his philanthropic duties, which include nonprofit organizations like Harris Community Works, which helps low-income families, and For the Love of Our Fathers, which assists with people living with Alzheimer's disease and dementia.
