(Harker Heights, Texas) - Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Harker Heights.

Harker Heights PD Chief Betiale Hawkins II reports that officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired in the 300 block of West Veterans Memorial Boulevard shortly before 1:30 AM Thursday, March 9.

About ten minutes later, police were told a man had been taken to Seton Medical Center by family members. When police arrived at the hospital, they saw the man being admitted to the emergency room.

Unfortunately, Chief Hawkins II reports that the man, later identified as 23-year-old s Taurus Berkhart Stubbs, passed away as a result of his injuries. Stubbs was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Nicola James at 4:58 PM. His body was sent to the Southwestern Institute of Forensics Sciences in Dallas for autopsy.

Police continued to investigate the shooting as of Thursday afternoon.
