The Temple office of Texas Child Protective Services needs help from the community.

According to KXXV, each office Bell County has a Rainbow Room filled with clothes and supplies for children to choose from after they're removed from their homes.

CPS is asking for the communities help with donations of backpacks for situations in which children are taken in an emergency. They're looking for bags that are filled with underwear, toothbrush, pajamas, travel size shampoo, conditioner, blanket, hair comb, brush, note of encouragement and activities such as puzzles, games, books and journals.

If you're unable to purchase an entire backpack of supplies, general donations for the rooms such as socks, shoes, personal hygiene products, diapers or formula, are also needed.

All donated items must be new and unused.

The Rainbow Room is overseen by the Child Welfare Board, but its day to day organization is all handled by volunteers, which are also needed.

If you would like to make a donation, you can visit any CPS office and tell the front desk it’s for the Rainbow Room.

If you want to sign up to be a volunteer, you can email Lauren Mcbee at lauren.mcbee@dfps.state.tx.us.
