If Old Waco Road south of West Adams Avenue in Temple is part of your daily commute, you'll be taking a detour for a couple of weeks later this month.

City of Temple Communications Director Shannon Gowan issued a news release Wednesday about a closure coming near the intersection of Old Waco Road and Brandon Drive so that construction crews can work on solutions to flooding.

The City of Temple will close Old Waco Road south of W. Adams Avenue for a period of two weeks beginning Monday, September 17th and ending Sunday, September 30th. Old Waco Road will reopen to traffic on Monday, October 1st, 2018.

The purpose for the road closure is the replacement of box culverts at the Thompson Channel, south of Conner Park and north of Brandon Drive. This work, being completed in conjunction with area drainage channel improvements, will alleviate historical flooding events in nearby neighborhoods.
