Texas is a great big place with more than enough room for its 30 million residents, and compared to some other states I have lived, Texas does not have nearly as many laws or glut of bureaucracy that you will encounter in several other places. However, you will find that there are still plenty of laws that are far less known throughout the Lone Star State, but are just as important as the more common rules we wish to have our society abide.

One of the best things about fall after finally achieving a break from all the summer heat (It should be any day now, right?), is the onset of much of the most popular hunting seasons occur begin this time of year, or soon to it, and continue into the winter.

Hunting seasons are very regulated, and with the exception of rabbits or wild boars, there are distinct time periods in which you can hunt any game within Texas from alligators to woodcocks.

The 200 yard law is also known as the 600 foot rule because when you are hunting, you must stay at least 600 feet, 200 yards, away from the perimeter of private property when using a firearm adjacent to Stillhouse Hollow Lake. It is also important to keep in mind that many hunting regulations are set by the local municipal and county governments.
