According to court documents, D. Dechert was very intoxicated with an illegal substance while sleeping with her infant daughter,  in the middle of the night, she rolled onto the baby and unintentionally smothered, the small child. What makes this situation so disgusting is when D. Dechert realized what had happened authorities reported that she failed to provide any medical treatment or emergency aid for eight hours after the child was lying unresponsive. Prolonging action contributed significantly to the charges against her.

As a mother, I can not imagine this happening to my child. This is not D. Dechert's first trouble with law enforcement in 2014,  D. Dechert was convicted of invading arrest in a motor vehicle, and the charge,  escalated to a felony because it involved endangering a child once again. This tragic case underscores the devastating impact of neglect and the crucial need for responsible parenting. While authorities have not disclosed more information about the incident, the prompt legal response demonstrates how seriously such situations are taken in Texas.
