
Move Over TikTok, Texas Now Banning 6 Other Risky Apps
The state of Texas has declared another six tech apps to be unsafe for use on government owned devices, or privately owned devices that may be used for government work. As a Millennial, I am going to say something completely outlandish, but it needs to be said before you start calling me a Boomer, I have never used TikTok and it is not because I live in Texas.

According to this KHOU article, back in 2022, Governor Greg Abbott declared TikTok as a point of vulnerability due to its collecting of data that could land directly on the desk of the Chinese Communis Party. Now the list has grown by an additional 6 apps, and they are:

The best part of living in the United States is you are generally free to do whatever you want within the boundaries of the law and common decency. You can openly be a communist, and that freedom is protected.

However, there are still certain precautions that the government must take to ensure it is not compromised at the hands of not just other foreign nations, but also businesses. So, just because the Lone Star State does not think it is a good idea to use these apps, does not mean you are not still free to share your own personal data, just make sure your device is nowhere near state business.
