Now, everyone is as confused as the victim probably was, as to why someone would be fired upon by members of law enforcement for simply attempting to answer the door to their own home. If you watch the video, the female officers were never fired upon, and begin to open fire before the woman even gets to learn why the officers were there.

It is not difficult to imagine that if someone is banging on your door at 2 AM, you are not necessarily going to take their word for it that they are deputy sheriffs, and when you may choose to approach your door with a gun, as the victim is alleged to have been carrying, before taking a closer look.

According to this Click2Houston article, the case is now in the hands of new investigators, and they will determine what actions should be recommended as the officers involved in the shooting remain on administrative leave.

No matter the determination, it is always a sad day when someone ends up a gun victim.
