A joyous event turned into tragedy over the weekend at Lake Waxahachie, Texas as several members of a congregation were celebrating their baptism in the same water that was used to symbolize their new birth into a life of following Jesus. Shortly after the ceremony concluded, one of the newly anointed recognizes a fellow sister, a 13 year old girl, was struggling in the water and needed immediate assistance.

Once 21 year old Lincer Lopez, who just moment earlier himself was baptized, realized the young girl was drowning, he did not hesitate to jump into action and attempt to get her to safety. At some point in the rescue, Lopez himself began to drown, and that is when a passing boater reached into the water to retrieve both he and the young girl.

The man identified as Jacob Bell was able to get the girl into the boat and administer CPR until she was revived, and is now recovering from the traumatic event. Sadly, Lopez was later pronounced dead at the hospital, and his family is simultaneously celebrating his heroic actions while also mourning his untimely loss at just 21 years of age.

A 13 year old girl found new life twice in the same day thanks to the selflessness of Lopez.

A GoFundMe has been set up to assist in returning Lopez's body to his parents in Mexico.
