Houston, Texas authorities are currently investigating a shooting in a home where it is being reported the home owner who is nearly 70 shot an invading man in his 30s that had also recently been living at the same address. The Houston Police Department released a statement that the man in his 30s was struck multiple times by bullets fired from the home owner, and he claims that younger man assaulted him after breaking into the house.

According to this KHOU 11 article, just after 11:30 PM last night, Houston officers responded to a call of multiple shots fired, and the younger man was transported to a nearby medical facility where he was being treated at by the trauma team following being shot.

The investigation has proven thus far to not be very cut and dry like it often can be for homeowners defending their residence with the rights afforded by the Texas Castle Doctrine that allows individuals to, "Stand their ground."

If you watched the above video, you will see that investigators have not declared an actual victim or assailant, and no charges have been filed. It is entirely possible that the man that broke in was confused or having a mental health issue when he broke in and attacked the home owner.

Also, this could be a domestic violence issue. This is why it is always important to conduct a thorough investigation, and allow authorities time to make their best educated recommendations.
