The booming Texas population is on pace to blow right through 31 million residents by the end of 2025, and after worrying about having enough water to accommodate the influx, our other big concern is maintaining power and not over taxing the grid. If you haven't heard, our population is supposed to reach around 60 million in the next 25 years, and we are only a little over half way there currently.

According to this Click 2 Houston article, Texas A&M is partnering with nuclear technology companies to develop mini reactors also known as small modular reactors (SMRs), and with the advancement of technology we may be able to supplement our draining of the grid. Think of it like the Mr. Fusion device the DMC DeLorean had in Back to the Future 2.

Many people in Texas have back up generators for emergencies, imagine one day having your own mini nuclear reactor, and the possibility of living off the grid with your own futuristic power source. I'd sure take a mini power plant in my neighborhood over all of these ugly solar panels lining our rooves.
