Temple, Texas is normally the kind of place that not a whole lot of major police presence is required with the occasional investigation happening in an isolated region, but on Wednesday there was a massive manhunt to capture a shooter that evaded police for a lengthy time where almost 50 different Texas law enforcement officers gave chase.

According to this KCEN article, a fight broke out just after 3 PM on North 11th Street and as an officer came to investigate after hearing gunshots, the suspect took off in a vehicle that ran over the policeman.

The shooting suspect fled north, and eventually was pursued into the area of the Temple Industrial Park where his vehicle crashed and he attempted to escape into a wooded area.

Temple Police were thankfully assisted by the Texas Department of Public Safety, who were able to provide a helicopter for the manhunt, and the Bell County Constables Precinct 3.

Texas Shooter Now Captured After Massive Manhunt And Two Injured

As a precaution, Kennedy-Powell Elementary, which was nearby, was put into lockdown until the manhunt could be concluded. Eventually, at around 5:30 PM, the suspect was arrested and identified as 22 year old Matthew Young.

Temple PD has thankfully commented that both the officer that was dragged by the automobile and the injured bystander are both expected to make a full recovery.
