The Texas Health and Human Services Commission has announced that they are providing a SNAP benefits extension to Texans for December 2022. More than $340 million in emergency benefits are on the way. Many of you may have already received yours.

THIS IS PERFECT TIMING

Texas Governor Greg Abbott‘s announcement regarding December‘s round of food benefits comes at the perfect time for many families that receive them. With the rising cost of everything right now, having the right amount of food, and the right kind of food, is a major concern for many families this season - not to mention the amount of time children that are eligible to receive free or reduced lunch will be home this month due to the holiday break. More food will be needed in the home.

SOME MUCH NEEDED RELIEF

Texas HHS Access and Eligibility Services Deputy Executive Commissioner Wayne Salter says,

"we are thankful to have an opportunity to help Texans provide for their families throughout the holidays."

WHAT TO EXPECT

The approval given from the US Department of Agriculture is for the maximum allowable amount of benefits and will be based on family size. However, every SNAP household will receive at least the minimum $95 of emergency aid.
