Texas Soldiers Now Charged In A Human Trafficking Ring
Fort Cavazos, Texas has in the neighborhood of 40,000 soldiers assigned to the post at any given time, and with numbers like that it can certainly be a challenge to monitor all of their off post or leave activities. Sadly, in our current day and age, mischief and sometimes mayhem also find their way into the private lives of some of our military personnel.

An investigation that has included at least the United States Customs and Border Protection, Presidio County Sheriff's Office, and United States District Attorney's Office has led to the arrest of three soldiers currently assigned to Fort Cavazos.
Texas Soldiers Now Charged In A Human Trafficking Ring
Two of the soldiers were identified as Emilio Mendoza Lopez and Angel Palma after border patrol agents attempted to stop their vehicle just north of the Mexican border. Palma actually managed to flee on foot and impressively travel across Texas more than 200 miles to Odessa before being arrested at a hotel according to this KCEN article.
How was the third Fort Cavazos soldier caught in this human trafficking ring?
Enrique Jauregui was identified as the alleged recruiter and master mind of the conspiracy based upon text messages that were sent between he and the other two suspects.

Mendoza Lopez has already appeared before a federal judge, and the other two are scheduled to appear tomorrow. Fort Cavazos is reportedly aware of the arrests, and cooperating fully.
