Walmart stores in Texas are pleading with customers to check their labels, and make sure they have not stocked their pantry with a food item that is at a major risk for spoiling before you even have a chance to use it. As is the case with most of these recalls, you can present your receipt to just about any store to receive a full refund, or if you prefer, you most likely will be able to exchange for the same product from a different lot.

My family is particularly at risk of having this recalled food, especially at this time of the year, because we cook with it all the time. In fact, we go out of our way to find new reasons to add chicken broth to just about every food we make in the winter, like chili, Texas gumbo, or any other soup or stew.

Texas Walmarts Now Pleading To Throw Out This Food

Before you go rushing to check your labels on chicken broth, the recall is currently limited to the Walmart brand Great Value and it specifically applies to their 48 ounce container. If you use a different brand or size of Great Value, then you are not included in this recall.

Our family just made a huge Dutch oven full of Texas gumbo, and I used a 48 ounce Great Value chicken broth in the recipe. It has now been a little over a week, and nobody is showing any signs of issues, but again it is always better to be safe than sorry.
