It seems they're impressed by shiny glass buildings, water, and, well... that's about it.

Big downtown areas seem to be the key. Then there's Lubbock. Yeah, I can't make up an excuse for why they chose Lubbock. Hell, even the picture they show is taken from the side of a highway. It's like they didn't really want to stop in the city long enough to even take a decent picture.
