Our Favorite Not-So-Scary Halloween Movies

Celebrate Halloween with a marathon of your favorite (not so scary) Halloween flicks!

I don’t know about you, but I’m a weenie when it comes to scary movies. Oh sure, I think I can handle watching them at the time, but come 10:00 p.m., I’m laying in my bed with my eyes wide open with every light in the house on. That’s why when it comes to Halloween movies, I’m a fan of the family friendly ones. Below are the top ten not scary Halloween flicks to watch this year! (Spoiler: Tim Burton pretty much dominates the list.)

10) FRANKENWEENIE

A retelling of Shelley’s Frankenstein, this family friendly flick tells the story of little Victor Frankenstein, who brings his pup sparky back to life. I mean, it’s a stop motion Tim Burton movie. It has to be on the list.

9) BEETLEJUICE

Full disclosure, I’ve never seen this one. My parents said this one was off limits as a kid, and to this day I’ve avoided it like the plague, but I included it because so many people love it. Whatever you do, don’t say his name three times!

8) CORALINE

If you haven’t seen Coraline yet, you are SO missing out! I read the book in college right before the movie came out, and I’m not gonna lie, it’s pretty amazing! You’ll never look at black buttons the same way after seeing this one!

5) EDWARD SCISSORHANDS

Is it weird that I had a crush on Edward when I was a kid? I guess I knew that deep down he was really Johnny Depp.

4) THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS

This was another one I wasn’t allowed to watch as a kid, but I have to admit, I’ve seen it since, and it’s pretty epic. AND it’s almost a Christmas movie too!

3) HOCUS POCUS

Some might argue this deserves a higher ranking. I mean, Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as sister witches is kind of hard to top when it comes to Halloween movies. AND they sing too!

2) CASPER

I’ll admit, the high ranking of this one probably has alot to do with my GIANT childhood crush on Devon Sawa as human Casper. Sorry, not sorry.

1) IT’S THE GREAT PUMPKIN, CHARLIE BROWN

BEST HALLOWEEN MOVIE EVER! If you didn’t watch the Charlie Brown holiday specials as a kid, you had a sad childhood. Favorite line? “I got a rock”.
