My favorite time of year is almost here. I know it's cooler to be on the edge of your seat for Halloween, but I'm a sucker for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season. The weather's nice and cool, our homes are nice and warm, and there's so much light, laughter, and food.

Speaking of food, this time of year also means we're closer to the annual H-E-B Feast of Sharing. In case you're new to the area or have never been, the Feast of Sharing is just that - a huge feast presented by H-E-B and local partners. Everyone in the community is invited to sit down to a free meal and just get to know each other.

The food is fantastic, and so is the fun. I've always gone to the Temple Feast of Sharing, where choirs and bands from local schools, as well as local singers and songwriters, take the stage to keep you entertained and provide a festive ambiance. Santa always makes an appearance as well, and there are plenty of activities for the kids.

H-E-B hosts 33 Feast of Sharing across Texas and Mexico every year, serving over 250,000 meals.

A great deal of work and care goes into making each feast successful, and they can use all the help they can get. If you'd like to volunteer at a Central Texas Feast of Sharing, here's what you'll need to know.

Waco: This year's Feast of Sharing will be held Tuesday, December 3 at the Waco Convention Center, 100 Washington Avenue, from 4 PM to 8 PM. It's the 30th annual feast in Waco, and they're expecting around 7,000 guests.

If you'd like to volunteer, registration opens October 28 and ends November 22. You'll want to contact Rhonda Featherston or Ledia Kesada at (254) 662-2595.

Temple: The 20th annual Feast of Sharing will be held Thursday, December 5 at the Mayborn Convention Center, 3303 North 3rd Street, from 4 PM to 8 PM. The folks at H-E-B say they're expecting around 4,000 guests, but I bet they'll get far more than that.

Volunteer registration begins October 28 and ends November 18. If you're interested in lending a hand, you can download a volunteer form here and return it to your local H-E-B.

Killeen: This year will mark Killeen's 12th year hosting a Feast of Sharing on Tuesday, December 17 from 4 PM to 8 PM. It'll be held at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center, 3601 South WS Young Drive. They're expecting around 5,100 guests.

Volunteer registration opens November 11 and ends December 6. If you'd like to help out, register with the City of Killeen's Volunteer Services here.

The folks here at Townsquare Media love attending the Feast of Sharing and sitting down to a meal with our friends and neighbors, so be on the lookout and come say hi to us!
