If you build it, they will come. Sound familiar? Yes it's a movie quote, but I bet it will ring true here in Texas as well. Alpine X is looking at both Austin and Dallas as new locations for a year-round ski and snowboard resort.

Skiing in Texas

There was a plan about 10 or 15 years ago to bring an indoor ski resort to the Dallas area, but those plans fell through. Hopefully, the time is right to make this happen.

According to KVUE, Virginia-based company Alpine X is looking to expand into Texas with two indoor ski and snowboard resorts. Alpine X is looking at locations in both Dallas and Austin for their possible expansion.

Ski & Snowboard in Texas

I know it sounds odd, but if this goes through, that would mean you could learn to both ski and snowboard right here in the Lone Star State. The two locations would also include hotels, restaurants, both ski and snowboard lessons and, of course, plenty of snow.

Alpine X

So what does Alpine X do? According to their website, their "mission is to develop family-centric active lifestyle communities and experience-based sports entertainment venues throughout the United States." Expanding into Texas is just part of the plan.

John Emery, Alpine-X CEO, says,

"This is part of our growth strategy that targets major North American metropolitan areas. We are aiming to establish a footprint of Alpine-X branded resorts and the dynamic Texas market is a perfect spot for our properties. We’re excited to join forces with this group in Texas, who are passionate and experienced in the development, delivery and operation of indoor entertainment venues.”

Alpine X plans to have both locations built and ready to open in 2025. I once heard a joke that goes "If Texans were meant to ski, God would have made bulls--t white".
