Chance The Rapper had some competition roaming the streets of Chicago this past week.

An alligator aptly named Chance The Snapper had been on the loose in Chicago's Humboldt Park Lagoon for over eight days but was finally captured on Tuesday (July 16), NBC News has reported. Chicago wildlife officials had been attempting to capture the gator to no avail, but they finally got him after enlisting the help of Florida alligator expert, Frank "Alligator Bob" Robb.

"The City’s top priority has been to keep residents and park patrons safe while facilitating the safe and humane capture of the alligator," Jenny Schlueter, spokeswoman for Chicago Animal Care and Control, said in a statement. Reptilian Chance is believed to be four-to-five feet long, and officials promise that he will not be killed now that he is captured.

"We want to ensure it can be moved to a permanent home in an appropriate location — not a lagoon in a Chicago park," Chicago Animal Care and Control Executive Director Kelley Grandurski said.

In related Chance The Rapper animal news, the Chicago rhymer has a role in the forthcoming live-action remake of Disney's The Lion King. In an Instagram post, Chance revealed that Childish Gambino, who plays Simba in the movie, convinced the film's director Jon Favreau to hire Chance as a consultant to the movie—and it ended up turning into an actual role in the film as a bush baby.

The movie hits theaters this Friday (July 19).
